DataGrab datatypes

DataGrab can be extended to handle different types of data by adding a new datatype. A datatype tells DataGrab how to handle specific forms of data and can be used to:

  • import different forms of data (eg, from 3rd party API’s)
  • pre-process data into a more useful form prior to importing (eg, combining firstname/surname fields into a single field)
  • add extra understanding of the data compared to the built-in datatypes (eg, turning lists of esoteric fields into EE categories)
  • set default behaviours (eg, assign a particular field to be the entry’s title)

Installing datatypes

Adding new datatypes is as easy as copying the new datatype’s folder into the DataGrab module folder:
